You try but your skis just seem to slide back to a parallel relationship, which launches you straight down the hill. Try these possible solutions:
- Make sure you're not leaning back--your shins should always touch lightly against the tongues of your boots. Also keep your arms well in front of you.
- Practice getting your skis into a wedge while standing still--notice how your ski's tails move out and the tips move in. You are simply pivoting the skis around your legs.
- Make sure you distribute your weight equally between both legs--while stationary, rock left and right and then settle into an even distribution of weight on each leg.
