While traversing across the hill, step onto the uphill (little toe) edge of the uphill ski and follow with the downhill ski. Make some powerful steps up the hill.
  • Feel the skis bite in the snow as you step.
  • Keep the upper body facing down the hill slightly.

Do this in both directions.

Now try it while turning

Make medium radius turns on moderate terrain.

When your skis point across the hill, take two powerful steps up the hill. Make your turn and repeat the step...step...turn sequence as your skis cross the flow line.

As you become more comfortable, start the stepping action earlier in the turn--just before your skis point across the hill. Do two or three powerful steps and continue shaping the turn.

  • Keep slight shin contact with the tongues of the boots--stay in the Sweet spot.
  • Feel the edges of your skis.
  • Feel the power.

Print this out for future reference and remember to have fun!
